GreenMicrofinance
India

GreenMicrofinance seeks to lead the field of microfinance, ensuring that the principles of sustainable development are integrated into all lending policies and programs.

Our Mission

GreenMicrofinance™  supports clean energy for the poor. Clean energy practices are essential to achieving two of the Millennium Development Goals: poverty reduction and environmental sustainability.

Sustainable energy practices by microenterprises and microfinance institutions contribute to sustainable global economic development and reduce the impacts of climate change on the poor.

GreenMicrofinance promotes the distribution of and use of renewable energy technologies, which help reduce global warming, providing the poor with cleaner air, and ultimately better health.

Energizing Microfinance™

GreenMicrofinance™ (GMf™) provides training, market research, and development of clean energy lending initiatives.  We work directly with microfinance institutions.  We have established relationships with NGOs (non-government organizations), government agencies, fiancial institutions, universities, environmental research institutes, and funders interested in financing clean energy.

GreenMicrofinance In the News: Biodiesel Magazine

Featuring Haiti Biodiesel Pilot Project: GreenMicrofinance™ is conducting research on potential of Jatropha promotion and agri-waste, promising biofuel crops, which reduce emissions and improve the quality of air, all of which contribute to climate change.

Dr. Joachim von Braun, Director General of the International Food Policy (IFPRI), spoke recently with Kathleen Robbins, Green Microfinance Director of Clean Energy.  He said "Least developed countries like Haiti that have experienced environmental devastation should get into the bioenergy business."
